Happy 2025 Fellow Creatures!

Happy New Year, Fellow Creatures! Hope your holidays were fantastic (or still are if you’re still celebrating.)   Can’t believe 2025 is here! I feel this way at the start of a new year, but I sense great hope and ambition in the air and I’m trying to capitalize on that a bit with writing Sin of the Scarred.   As of writing this I’m about 14k into book 3 of the Scarred World Saga with still plenty more to go.    All this is to say, I’m going silent until the start of February on the blog and social (though I’ll still be active on my Newsletter) so I can concentrate on a big push for book 3.    I...

Book 3 has Begun and It Has a Name…

The adventure has begun.    If you read my blog from last time then you know I was nearing my second pass of edits on book 2 of the Scarred World Saga, Stone of the Scarred.   Well, I’m happy to say that as of writing this I’m officially off and running on book 3. About 10k words in to be exact.   And guess what? Book 3 officially has a name.   Sin of the Scarred.   In keeping with the whole S of the Scarred them I’ve got going on here, I landed on this being the a good place to be, as it should focus much more on Requiem, his past, and the Scarred’s history.   I so desperately want to share...

‘Tis the Season!

Happy December, Fellow Creatures!   Hope your month is shaping up to be one full of family, festivities, and fun no matter how and if you celebrate any particular holiday.   There’s not much purpose to this blog other than to grant you all well wishes and to give you some quick updates.   Down here at Elsewhere we’re doing our best to gear up for Christmas, which means driving around and checking out the local lights, hitting up a parade or two where there are a variety of wannabe Santas with various qualities of costumes, and trying to get our hands on as many cookies as possible.   It’s a wild, but fun time around here with tons going on,...

Under a God-Made Mountain is Out NOW!

Hot dang, Fellow Creatures!   It’s here. Launch day.    Under a God-Made Mountain is officially out and available on ebook, KU, paperback, and hardcover formats!    So click away and get ye some strange, horror-fantasy if you haven’t done so already.     Early beta readers and reviewers are calling it “a fast-paced odyssey into the darkness.”    So if you want in, you know what to do.    If you’ve been following along on this blog then you know I’ve talked about this book for close to a year now, so not sure how much I can say about it, other than I am really happy to put it in your hands finally.   It was a joy to write and got me back into the...

There’s still time!

To enter the contest I mentioned in my blog 2 weeks ago.    November 21st is in 6 days, but you can still enter to win a free, signed copy of Under a God-Made Mountain if you send a message to hallwaytoelsewhere@gmail.com with the subject line “Take me to the mountain” and your name and address in the body of the email.   I’ll choose one random winner and send it their way as a big thank you for following me into Elsewhere and joining this journey into the mountain.   As mentioned in the previous blog, I need to limit this contest to folks with a U.S. address due to the crazy shipping costs these days, but if...

What’s that in the distance? A contest?!

Ahoy, Fellow Creatures!    I hope all is swell in thy dell and you are surviving and thriving in your neck of Elsewhere.    Hard to believe that it’s November 1st, which means there are 3 weeks to go until Under a God-Made Mountain is officially put out into the wild.   Oy! My head is spinning a bit as it does with most releases. So much to do from a marketing standpoint and so much hope and emotion around it too.   Will it be perceived well? How’s the blurb? How else can I get the word out?   That’s just a smattering of thoughts constantly running through my noggin as we lead to release day.   So what can I do to help...

The Official Release Date Is…

Well, if you read my last blog a few weeks back and saw the cover reveal, you knew this was imminent, Fellow Creatures.   And, if you’re part of my newsletter, this is old news.   But Under a God-Made Mountain, my brand-new, standalone, horror-fantasy novel has an official release date.   November 21st!    It’s also officially up for pre-order on Amazon!   Gulp… That date is super close! And it’s always scary to push a new baby out of its nest.   But I think this one is ready. I’ve been toiling with it for over a year now, and it’s time for it to meet the rest of the world.   What’s it about? Well, here’s the current blurb you’ll find on Amazon. In the...

Cover Reveal Time!

What’s that lurking around the bend in Elsewhere?   A new cover?!    Hot-diggity dog!    It’s true. My long-talked-about standalone, horror fantasy novel, Under a God-Made Mountain, finally has a face…     Ain’t she perdy?   A big shoutout to Noah Frase, my cousin and illustrator of some of my other books (the entire Chilongua series and Dragons of Elsewhere) for doing such a kick-arse job capturing the mood of the book in a single scene.   If you’ve been following along, you know that the cover depicts how Melk, the main character in the book, and the other five criminals end up at the top of Mount Methugarna, the holy prison in which they are forced to march their corrupt feet.   I know I’m...

Back to School!

If you follow my newsletter (which I hope you do!), you know it’s been a wild last couple of weeks.   School is officially back in session!   And while the Summer has been great, and I think the boys have thoroughly enjoyed it with all the outside shenanigans and burying themselves in probably way too much ice cream, I think we all agreed it was time to get back to a bit of a routine.   But with that routine comes the chaos. Homework. Packing lunches. Slinging out breakfast just in time before the bus arrives. Driving to and from Fall sports.  Ensuring that everyone gets to bed a reasonable hour so we’re not zombies come the weekend…   If...

Art Quest Update 9-1-24

The quest continues, Fellow Creatures! Coming at you for this latest round of updates with officially starting unit #2 of the solo artist curriculum as created by Radio Runner.  And with Unit #2 comes the start of something I’ve been wanting to improve for a long, long time. Drawing the head and face. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been drawing the same faces. They all look a little small and flat, with eyes way too big, and mouths that are nothing more than a single line. Not terrible, but certainly not of the quality like Karl Kopinski or Sam Hogg (two of my art idols!). I’ve long longed (that’s fun to write) to make...
