Art Quest

You’ll probably notice I throw the term artist around these parts when I describe what I’m trying to do with my work.

I’ve been drawing and doodling since as long as I can remember. I probably spent more time messing about with a pencil and paper during the week than I actually did doing homework. (Sorry, Mom & Dad!)

Yet, I’ve never actually taken it as far as I wanted to, and it’s been a life long goal of mine to go from this (current state) ‘

To this…

Behold, some of my artistic idols!

So begins Art Quest. An epic journey to go from casual doodler to becoming a fraction of Frank Frazetta.

And I’m going to try to get there myself.

With the fam, writing, a full-time job, and the need to play Tears of the Kingdom upcoming, I don’t have time (nor that sweet, sweet cash) to enroll in a full-time art program. So I’m setting out on this journey by my lonesome with this handy-dandy curriculum as my map.

The Solo Artist’s Road Map

Turns out Radiorunner is this guy, Alex Hunneycutt (I love that last name.)  Who seems to know his way around some paint and some pictures.

This is very focused on concept design and illustration, which is exactly what I’m looking for.

I know this won’t get me all the way to where I want to be, but I think it will get me pretty far down the road, and once I’m there, I’ll figure out from there.

The plan is 30 minutes a day, as many days I can.

I know that’ll take me a while to finish this curriculum (talking years, not months) with this timeline, but I think it’ll be worth it.

Art and illustration has always been something I loved and admired. I still to this day will go to the library and grab the newest D&D books to ogle at the artwork, and go down deep rabbit holes of other concept arts for video games and movies.

I’d love to get there myself some day. So let’s see where this quest takes me.

Hope you’ll follow along here and on Instagram. If you have any thoughts or suggestions along the way, I’d love to hear them.

See you there, Fellow Creatures!

Stay stompin’,

-Jeff
